Be sure to step outside on Friday, September 17 to see how Tampa is celebrating the global National Park(ing) Day event.
Metered parking spots will be transformed into temporary parks for the public good for the day. The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate regarding how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat … at least until the meter runs out! See the Park(ing) Day network for past projects: http://my.parkingday.org such as free health clinics, urban farming and ecology demonstrations, political seminars, art installations, free bike repair shops and even a wedding ceremony!
Downtown “parks” will be along the east side of the Seven One Seven Parking lot, bordered by Zack, Twiggs, Franklin, and Tampa Streets.
Friday, September 17, 11am-7pm
Sponsored by SuperTest Projects and the Tampa Downtown Partnership.
